Digital signature
The digital signature, in a field operation, is the acceptance the customer leaves on the device when the service is closed. It stays attached to the order along with the time and the location, and it replaces the paper delivery note that had to be carried back to the office.
Its most immediate effect is on invoicing: the signed paper note takes days to reach the back office and sometimes never arrives. With digital acceptance, the service becomes billable the moment it is closed.
It is worth distinguishing it from the advanced electronic signature, which carries full legal weight and requires certificates. For service acceptance the simple one is usually enough, accompanied by time, location and evidence, which is what backs up the claim if one comes.
