ISO 55000
ISO 55000 is the family of international standards on asset management. It defines how an organisation should plan, operate and improve the handling of its physical assets across their whole life cycle, and not just their maintenance.
What it asks for in practice is traceability and explicit criteria: that a management plan exists for each type of asset, that decisions are justified with data and that interventions are recorded in an auditable way. It does not prescribe tools, but it is very hard to sustain with spreadsheets.
It shows up frequently in industrial and infrastructure service tenders, where it works as a filter: if the supplier cannot demonstrate how it manages assets, it does not qualify, however good the price is.
